I'm looking to kick off a freelancing career in web development as a way to earn some extra cash. Initially, I'll be targeting local shops and businesses in my area. I've already registered a domain name, "firstinitialLastName.dev," which I plan to use as a portfolio site along with a contact form. I've also set up email hosting connected to this domain. My question is: should I form an LLC right away, or would it be better to wait until I have more clients before making that leap?

If you're just starting and trying things out, you can operate as a sole proprietor without setting up an LLC right away. Focus on getting a few clients and see how it goes. An LLC is more beneficial once you have consistent income and want to protect yourself from liability or keep your personal and business finances separate.

Thanks for your input! Would you say the same if I were to branch out into general software development, like creating small applications for clients?
