Do I need Azure Fundamentals to pass the DP-100 exam?

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to take the DP-100 exam (Azure Data Scientist Associate) in about two weeks, and I have a couple of questions:

1. Can I pass the exam without having completed the Azure Fundamentals certification first?
2. Is it possible to prep for the exam without having an Azure subscription for practice?

A bit of background on me: I have three years of experience as a Data Scientist, a Master's in Data Analytics, and I've worked with Azure services as an AI Engineer for four months. Any insights would be really appreciated!

Hey! I'm also studying for the DP-100 right now, and I can say that you can pass without the AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals), but having some hands-on practice with Azure would definitely help.

You do need an Azure subscription to get familiar with the platform since it covers specific tasks in the exam. Good news, though, you can create a free Azure account that gives you some credits to experiment with! For practice, you might want to check out the Microsoft certification site for practice assessments, and I've also found MeasureUp useful (though it comes with a cost). Good luck with your exam!

I just passed the DP-100, and honestly, I think the Fundamentals certification isn’t necessary. I've been in the tech field for a long time, mainly working with data scientists, and I was able to prepare using just MeasureUp and the Microsoft Learn resources. You seem to have a strong background, so you might be good to go without it!

You don’t really need to do the Azure Fundamentals course, but you should have a solid understanding of Azure concepts. Without practicing on Azure, it can be tough as the exam tests your practical skills. If you haven't used it before, you might struggle with the lab parts.

So, I'd recommend at least getting some experience with an Azure subscription.

Congrats on getting your Azure subscription! It really helps to have that practical experience. I prepared mainly with MeasureUp and focused on the areas I struggled with. Just know your weak points, and you’ll do well!
