I just purchased an RTX 4070 Super and have a SilverStone DA1000 Gold Cybenetics Gold 1000W semi-modular ATX power supply. Someone advised me to sell my current PSU and get an ATX 3.0 unit to prevent damage to my GPU, internal components, or wiring. Is this advice necessary or urgent? Will I really risk damaging my GPU or other components if I don't make this change?

Ignore that advice! The worries about melting connectors are vastly exaggerated, especially when it comes to the 4070 Super. Your current SilverStone PSU is a solid unit and can handle it just fine. The main issue some people mistakenly think exists is related to the 12VHPWR connector, but with your GPU, that risk is minimal. Stick with what you have; you're in good shape.
Your setup should be fine! Just take care of the cable management, and you won’t have an issue. Upgrade only when you build a new system, if needed.
You really don’t need to stress about it. The 4070 won't melt your wires or anything. SilverStone makes reliable PSUs, and yours is perfectly suitable for gaming.
Honestly, your PSU is more than capable of powering that GPU without any issues. The 4070 Super doesn't pull enough power to be a serious risk, especially with a 1000W PSU. You're good to go!
