I'm having trouble installing my motherboard in my PC case. After getting the I/O shield in place, all the standoffs seem aligned, including the center guiding standoff. However, there's quite a significant gap between the motherboard and this standoff, particularly towards the bottom-right side of the board. Trying to screw it in seems like it would bend the motherboard. All the other standoffs are level, but this center one isn't. I'm using a compatible mATX full tower case and an mATX motherboard. My setup includes an ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WiFi 7 motherboard and a Corsair 7000D Airflow full tower case. I removed the center guiding standoff and managed to install the motherboard correctly, without any bends, and everything aligned fine. So, my question is: is the center guiding standoff necessary for safety or structural support?

The center guiding standoff is mainly there to help align the motherboard during installation. However, if it's causing a height issue like you mentioned, it's okay to replace it with a regular standoff. Just make sure your motherboard is supported well enough since the cooler and GPU will put some stress around that area.
I've had a similar setup, and I removed mine too. It helped avoid bending. Just make sure everything else is secure!

Exactly! I used to think the guiding standoff was essential, but as long as the other standoffs provide good support, you should be fine without it.
