Best Linux Distro for Work and Gaming

I'm new to Linux and have already set up Mint on my Dell OptiPlex 3050 Micro for use as a home theater PC. Now, I'm looking to install a Linux distribution on my laptop, which I use for work and gaming. I'm curious about which distros (other than Ubuntu) are compatible with popular photo and video editing software, as well as waveform for music production. While I know I can use Wine and Proton to play Windows games, I'm interested in whether I can use other game stores like the Epic Games Store along with Steam.

Most mainstream distros have you covered these days! I personally use the Heroic Games Launcher for playing Epic and GOG games without any hassle.

For using other game shops alongside Steam, you can definitely try out the Heroic Games Launcher. It's great for accessing Epic and GOG games, but keep in mind it's not as straightforward as using Steam itself.

I tried installing CachyOS once but ran into an issue during setup. I'm thinking of giving it another go, since I've heard it's pretty good!

CachyOS is a fantastic choice since it's Arch-based and comes with the latest updates, so you'll have access to a vast software library through the AUR. It even features a simple option to install gaming packages and supports the Heroic Launcher for accessing games from other stores. Plus, it has a range of desktop environments to choose from, like KDE Plasma or GNOME.

If you’re looking for something solid, I recommend Pop!_OS. It works exceptionally well on laptops with integrated and dedicated graphics.
