Does It Matter Which CPU Power Slot I Use on My Motherboard?

I'm building my setup and have a question about the CPU power connections. My motherboard, an ASUS TUF Gaming B850 Plus Wifi, has two 8-pin CPU power slots, but my power supply only includes one cable. Does it matter which slot I connect it to? I'm curious if one slot is better or if it just works fine either way. For context, I'm using an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D CPU and an MSI MAG A650 power supply.

From my experience, it doesn’t make a difference. I’ve used both ports on different motherboards over the years, and they’ve always worked fine. Unless your manual specifies otherwise, either port should do the trick!

It doesn't really matter which slot you use. Both are fine for standard setups and you won’t need the second one unless you're planning on serious overclocking.

As long as the system boots up correctly, either one will work great! So just choose whichever is easier to reach based on your case layout.

It's likely okay to use either slot. You might want to check your motherboard manual for names like 'CPU PWR1' or 'CPU1'. If you really want, you could get another 8-pin cable since your PSU is modular, but it’s probably not necessary unless it's a specialized build.
