Does My PC Build Look Good for Gaming and Light Editing?

Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build a new gaming PC primarily for competitive games like Apex and Fortnite at 1440p 180Hz (overclocked from 165Hz). I might also do some light video editing with After Effects, but I'll rely on my MacBook for heavier tasks. I'm hoping to get some feedback on my parts list and any suggestions for improvements. I'm aiming to spend between $1800 and $2000 in total since I'm selling my old PC for about $700. Here's the parts list I've come up with:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor - $369.99
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE - $34.90
- Motherboard: ASRock B850 Riptide WiFi ATX AM5 - $209.99
- Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 - $86.99
- Storage: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB NVME SSD - $139.99
- Video Card: PowerColor Hellhound OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB - $859.99
- Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case - $86.99
- Power Supply: NZXT C850 850 W 80+ Gold - $124.99

Total: $1913.83 (prices may vary). Any thoughts? Cheers!

You might want to consider swapping your motherboard for a different brand if you go for the 9800x3D. The AsRock boards have a bit of a sketchy reputation. Also, you can save about $100 by upgrading your current CPU. Here's a solid build that stays under your budget:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz
- Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT (you'll save some cash here and still get great performance).

So, would the Gigabyte card perform just as well without sacrificing much? Trying to save wherever I can!

Absolutely! I have the same combo, and it's perfect for 1440p. Just make sure you get a decent monitor; I cheaped out initially and regretted not going for a higher refresh rate!
