I recently got a fancy 180Hz LG Ultragear monitor at 1080p along with an RX 9070 XT GPU, powered by a Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU. I've heard that using such a powerful GPU can lead to a CPU bottleneck when gaming at 1080p, especially with high FPS. While researching solutions, I came across AMD's Virtual Super Resolution (VSR), which lets games run at higher resolutions like 1440p and then downscale to 1080p. I'm curious if this actually helps in reducing CPU workload and if it's worth it to go for 1440p gaming on my 1080p setup. Has anyone tried this, and did it make a difference?

Honestly, the CPU bottleneck works in such a way that even if you use VSR, you might see similar performance at higher resolutions like 1440p. Don't expect miracles, but it could be worth trying out as long as you keep your expectations realistic.
Just a heads up, while VSR can reduce the load on the CPU by pushing more work onto your GPU, it might not really increase your FPS overall at 1440p compared to 1080p due to the CPU still being a bottleneck. If you can swing it, getting a 1440p monitor would deliver better results.
You seem to have a solid setup! If you're waiting on your new gear, why not just try it out when it arrives? Testing it yourself could give you the best insight into how it performs with your specific rig.
I definitely will! It's on the way now.
A lot of folks suggest capping your FPS might be a simpler fix for CPU bottlenecking than messing with settings like VSR. Just set a limit that's closer to what your CPU can handle, and you should be good to go!
Thanks for the tip! I'll consider capping my FPS.

Totally agree! Plus, 1440p is just a nicer experience visually.
