Dram Light Stays On After CPU Upgrade, Any Solutions?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 7600X to a Ryzen 7 9700X, and now I'm facing an issue. When I attempt to boot up, nothing happens—I'm unable to get into the BIOS. I even tried putting my old CPU back in to download a BIOS update onto a USB drive, but it wouldn't boot with that one either. My motherboard is an Asus Tuf Gaming B650-Plus WiFi, and I'm using Kingston Fury DDR5 32GB RAM. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going wrong?

First off, you should check the CPU socket for any bent pins, even though AM5 doesn't use pins. It’s still worth inspecting to ensure everything's seated properly. If there’s no visible damage, that’s a good sign, but it’s a common troubleshooting step.

Yeah, I totally forgot that AM5 doesn't have pins! Nonetheless, checking connections can help rule out misalignment.

Did you by chance update the BIOS before swapping your CPU? Sometimes, newer CPUs need updated firmware to work correctly. Also, if your old CPU won't boot now, that might indicate something else is off.

Nope, I couldn’t get it to boot with the old CPU either. It's super frustrating!

You might need to update the BIOS, especially since you're using newer components. Also, knowing your motherboard model is useful; you've got the Asus Tuf Gaming B650-Plus WiFi, right? That should support your new CPU with a BIOS update.

That's correct! Do you think the update could fix the boot issue?

I recommend clearing the CMOS while the old CPU is installed. It can reset any settings that might be causing conflicts and help you get it back up and running.
