Experiencing Freezes When Installing Linux on My Netbook

Hey everyone! I've got this small HP detachable netbook (model 10-n106nl) that I haven't used much because Windows runs so poorly on it, especially with just 32GB of eMMC storage. I thought switching to a Linux distribution would be a great idea, but oddly enough, every OS I've tried besides Windows has been freezing and crashing after about 10-20 minutes of use. I've experimented with several distros like Mint, Zorin, and MX Linux, and even tried Chrome OS Flex and FydeOS, but nothing seems to work. The specs are an x5-z8300 processor and 2GB of RAM. Does anyone have any insights into what could be causing these issues? I really want to make this little device usable again!

With only 2GB of RAM, you’re really limited. You definitely need to go for a super lightweight distro to avoid freezes. Have you considered something like Puppy Linux or Lubuntu? Those might run a bit better for you.

So you think it’s really a RAM issue? I guess that makes sense!

You might want to give Debian a shot, particularly the LXQt ISO. It’s pretty lightweight and could work better with your specs.

Will do, thanks for the suggestion!
