I'm dealing with some frustrating RDP session disconnects that my customers are facing, and I'm hoping to find someone who has tackled this issue before. They're getting a reason code of 21475000035. One of my engineers has reached out to Microsoft support, but honestly, we know how hit or miss that can be. I've checked the servers and can't find any problems. We're running one on Windows Server 2012 R2 and another on 2016, and neither had any updates before these disconnects started. The issues seem to be intermittent, often occurring around the 30-minute mark. Has anyone dealt with this in a Remote Desktop Services collection?

Could you clarify if the clients are connecting from inside the firewall or externally? Are you using an RDP gateway? Have you tried the HTML client? I had a similar situation, and it turned out the firewall was dropping the sessions.
What versions are the clients running when connecting to remote desktop? Honestly, running such outdated versions of Windows Server raises a red flag. If it’s compatibility issues, the disconnects might be linked to older configuration settings that cause sessions to drop after a set time.
We have to stick with what our customers are willing to pay for, and sometimes that means supporting older systems for app compatibility. I’m using RDP client version 10.0.26.100, and I can replicate the issue easily. It seems compatible, but this mysterious reason code suggests there’s something else going on.
Just a heads up, your Microsoft case might not yield much for the 2012 server, and the same might be true for the 2016 version if you lack extended support. However, it's crucial to take a look at the RDP logs on your session host or gateway in the Event Viewer. You might find some helpful info there.
I’m hoping we get some decent support for the 2016 server at least. It seems like we’ve been seeing an increase in issues with Windows 11 and RDS servers lately.

One of my clients connects via VPN and skips the gateway, while the other uses RDWeb through the gateway. The Windows firewall is off, but I think they’re both behind a Palo Alto firewall. I’ll check in with the network team about any recent changes.
