For the last couple of years, I've been struggling with painfully slow download speeds across multiple gaming platforms such as Steam, Riot, Battle.net, Epic, and even Arena Breakout Launcher. My speeds typically hover between 500kbps to 5mbps, with rare spikes reaching 20-30mbps. This is frustrating because I have 1GB fiber internet, and I've notice others with much slower connections managing faster downloads than I can achieve. I'm currently using a CAT8 ethernet cable but have also tried different ones with no improvement.
Here's what I've attempted so far:
- Ensured all ethernet connections are secure in my PC and router.
- Ran a malware scan and found no issues.
- Checked my drivers, and they are reportedly up to date (I have a Killer E3100G 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet).
- Executed command prompts to check for corrupted files—everything's clear.
- Factory reset my network settings.
I'm at a loss with what else could be causing these slow speeds. I've also noticed in Task Manager that my network activity fluctuates wildly, sometimes dropping to 0kbps, and NZXT PC monitoring shows minimal load during downloads, which is puzzling. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried running speed tests on all your devices using a reliable site like speedtest.net? It might give you clearer insights into the issue. More data could help pinpoint whether the problem lies with your PC, network, or the internet itself!
Yes, I've done speed tests, and surprisingly, the results are pretty much the same across my phone and laptop. Not great! I'll share my test results—just testing if something is consistently low.
