External Hard Drive Can’t Be Initialized Due to Data Error

I've been using my Seagate 2TB external hard drive without any issues, but now it's throwing a 'data error cyclic redundancy check' when I try to initialize it in Disk Management. I suspect it might be related to some corrupted files I transferred from an older hard drive that had bad sectors and would not format properly. I've already tried several third-party applications to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. Anyone have advice on what I can do?

You might want to try using the command prompt and the 'diskpart' command to see if you can format the drive that way. Just make sure you select the correct drive so you don't accidentally format something else!

I actually tried that already, but the external drive doesn't have a letter assigned, so I couldn't format or recover it.

It's possible that the drive could be defective, especially if it's not being recognized at all. Check it with a tool like Crystal Disk Info to see if it provides any insights on the drive's health.

The drive was detected just fine a few days ago, but now nothing. I really think the corrupted data from my previous hard drive could be the issue since both aren't working now. Is that even possible?
