Facing Black Screen Issues with My New 9070 XT Steel Legend GPU

I recently upgraded my GPU to an ASRock 9070 XT Steel Legend from a 7800 XT, and now I'm encountering a frustrating issue. Whenever I try to play demanding games like Battlefield or Alan Wake 2, the screen goes completely black. I have to shut down my PC for about 30 seconds and restart to get it working again, as a simple reboot isn't enough. This black screen also occurs when I run stress tests using MSI Kombustor. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 7500F CPU, an 850W Gold Cooler Master PSU, and the new GPU. I'm looking for any advice on what could be causing this problem.

It sounds like you might have a faulty graphics card. Black screens can happen when the hardware isn’t functioning properly. I’d suggest reaching out to the retailer for a replacement, or contacting ASRock to see if you can swap it under warranty. It's not uncommon to get a defective unit; it doesn't reflect on the overall quality of the 9070 XT or ASRock as a brand.

So you're saying the GPU is likely the issue and not my CPU or motherboard?

Exactly! It’s usually just bad luck that leads to a defective card. Definitely consider getting it replaced.

First off, make sure your drivers are installed correctly. How did you go about that? It's crucial to uninstall the old drivers thoroughly before installing the new ones. Have you done that with something like DDU in Safe Mode? It can help prevent conflicts that drive performance issues.

I did use DDU to remove the old 7800 XT drivers, and I installed the latest 26.1.1 drivers. The first day everything was fine, but then the issues started.

Yeah, sometimes driver updates can be buggy, too. A clean install usually helps, but if the problem persists, check for any other updates or patches.
