Hey everyone, I recently installed Fedora 42 (using Linux 6.17.5-200.fc42.x86_64) alongside my Windows 10 partition for dual booting. After updating from the March ISO (Spin COSMIC), my system has started freezing randomly, though the audio sometimes continues to play. I initially thought the issue was with COSMIC, so I switched to KDE Plasma, but the problem is still there.
I'm currently using NOUVEAU drivers with a GTX 550ti, but I'm contemplating whether I should switch to the proprietary drivers since I've had issues with some components not functioning properly and my X11 configuration is a bit off. It's also strange that the audio occasionally repeats or behaves weirdly. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

If you're dealing with audio issues and using Pipewire, it's a known problem and can often be fixed by adjusting the configuration. Try changing the value of 'pulse.min.quantum' in the settings—it could help with the stuttering you're experiencing.
You might want to check your BIOS settings. Sometimes misconfigurations can cause stability issues. Make sure Secure Boot is disabled, as it can interfere with certain drivers.
I have a H110M-CS motherboard, and I've been using the default settings except for Secure Boot. Should I try changing anything in particular?
Consider reverting back to the 6.16 kernel. It might help if the latest updates have introduced instabilities. If you can only find 6.14, it's worth a shot to see if it resolves the freezing issue.
I only have 6.14 available right now. I'll test it out for a couple of hours and see if there's any improvement with NOUVEAU.

It's not so much stuttering, but there are moments where the audio seems to rewind like a dusty vinyl record. I'll look into that adjustment!
