Hey everyone, I'm really trying to land an internship, but my resume is lacking in the project department. Recently, I came up with an idea to create a website and inventory management system for small bookstores to help them manage their online presence. However, I noticed that many small bookstores already have websites, which made me feel pretty disappointed and now I'm second-guessing whether I should even pursue this project. This was the first idea in a while that genuinely excited me. I'm torn—should I go ahead with my project anyway? Is there still value in it, or should I just scrap it and look for something completely different?

Focus on showcasing your skills rather than worrying about profitability. Not every project has to be groundbreaking! Sometimes it's more about the process and what you can show for it. Just pick an idea and make it happen; you'll be glad you did!
You might be surprised that some bookstores don’t like their current systems because they’re either outdated or too pricey. If you want to make your project relevant, consider reaching out to bookstore owners to find out their real needs. If you're just looking to beef up your resume, the specifics of who uses it aren't as crucial—just build something!
It's true that most projects have some sort of competition, but that shouldn't stop you. The important part is what you can learn through the process! Even if your project exists, you’ll still gain skills working on it. Plus, your unique perspective and solution could offer something new to the market. Just dive in and see where it goes!
So you think it's worth pursuing just for the learning experience? I kinda feel pressured to make something completely unique.
