Hey everyone! I'm planning to build my first PC and I'd love some feedback on my chosen components. I'm working off a bundle from Microcenter which features the Ryzen 7 7700X, and I'm aiming to keep the total cost under $1000. My main uses will be light gaming (like Sims 4 and Elden Ring) and some workstation tasks, especially software development and practicing CUDA.
Here's what I'm considering for the build:
- **CPU:** Ryzen 7 7700X ($370 in bundle)
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 ($370 in bundle)
- **RAM:** 2 sticks of 16GB G.Skill Flare X5 ($370 in bundle)
- **GPU:** Gigabyte Windforce OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB ($330 on Newegg)
- **Case:** Phanteks XT Pro ($72 on Newegg)
- **Power Supply:** CORSAIR CX750 80 PLUS Bronze ATX PSU ($80 on Newegg)
- **Storage:** SAMSUNG 990 EVO PLUS SSD 1TB ($70 on Newegg)
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE V2 ($50 on Newegg)
Total comes to $972.
I picked the 7700X mainly for its performance in coding and general tasks compared to the 7600X. I've got the cooler based on good reviews for the 7700X, went with 1TB storage because that's what I need right now, and I just chose the PSU based on decent ratings while ensuring it has enough wattage. The case stood out to me for its style.
So, do you think this build will work well together? Is there anything I might have overlooked?

Your build is looking pretty good overall. The RTX 3060 with 12GB should serve you well for your needs. Just a heads-up, if you’re primarily gaming, consider looking into whether you want a slightly more robust PSU or perhaps additional case fans, as the XT Pro only comes with one. Good luck with your build!
What kind of PSU would you suggest? Should I go with a 750W Gold rated like someone else mentioned?
