Frustrated with Gaming on ZorinOS – Help Needed!

I've recently switched from Windows to ZorinOS Core and I'm struggling a lot. I want to game, but every method I've tried to install Hearthstone has failed—whether it's through Steam, Lutris, or Faugus, there's always some issue. Plus, my function keys (F1, F2, F3) aren't working, and after I install something, my mouse stops working. Am I just messing up big time, or is Linux truly not beginner-friendly? Is it really that hard to game on Linux?

For a smoother transition, check the migration page for tips! Using a live USB to test different Linux distros before fully switching can help you find one that works well for your hardware. Remember to only use root when necessary and always verify your ISO checksums!

It’s actually pretty common for Windows games to run well on Linux! Hearthstone usually works fine, so it’s not impossible. Check out protondb.com for info on game compatibility. About the function keys, it might just be specific to your hardware. Are you using a laptop?

Could you share your computer specs? Also, what file system are your drives formatted to? That can really affect game installations. And have you swapped the Alt and Windows keys on your keyboard? Sometimes that can cause confusion with function keys.

What kind of errors are you encountering? It would help if you describe what you’ve done step by step. That way, we can spot where things might be going wrong.

Linux is definitely usable! Most websites run on Linux, and once you get the hang of it, it can be just as easy to use. However, if you want to run Windows applications, you might need to stick with Windows since using non-Linux applications can get tricky.
