Games Stuck at 60 FPS on My Laptop – Help Needed!

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my laptop where my games, specifically League of Legends and Valorant, are stuck at 60 FPS. I've already tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps but no luck so far. Here's what I've done:

- Reset the NVIDIA Control Panel to default settings
- Set my preferred graphics processor to the NVIDIA GPU
- Disabled V-Sync both in-game and through Windows and NVIDIA Control Panel
- Reinstalled the NVIDIA graphics driver, using both express and custom clean installs after uninstalling
- Double-checked the in-game settings
- Made sure everything else on my laptop is updated
- Checked Windows settings:
1. Power mode set to "Best performance"
2. Display refresh rate confirmed at 144Hz
3. Adjusted settings like enabling/disabling variable refresh rate and hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

This problem started today, and it briefly seemed to fix itself after I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver, but then it came back after a restart, and I've had no success since then.

Here are my system specs:
- Laptop model: ASUS TUF Dash F15 (FX516PE)
- OS: Windows 11
- Processor: Intel Core i5-11300H (11th Gen)
- Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti
- RAM: 16GB

I'd really appreciate any advice or insights you might have. Thanks a lot!

Did you check the in-game settings? Sometimes those can get overlooked. It might be worth another look just in case you missed something there.

I’ve actually checked both games and tried various solutions, including reinstalling them. Still no change.

Just a thought, is this only happening when your laptop is on battery? Sometimes power management settings can throttle performance.

Unfortunately, it happens both when plugged in and when on battery. It’s pretty frustrating!

Back in my day, we would have loved to have "only" 60 FPS! But seriously, good luck sorting it out!

It sounds like Optimus might be causing you problems. Have you tried forcing your games to use the dedicated GPU through Windows graphics settings? Also, you might want to double-check that V-Sync is disabled everywhere, and see if G-Sync is accidentally enabled, as that can mess with frame rates too.

I did try forcing both iGPU and dGPU options and I disabled V-Sync again, but I'm still stuck. I also can't seem to figure out how to disable G-Sync since I can't find the setting in my NVIDIA Control Panel, even after trying to get it to show up.
