Hey everyone! I'm looking for some honest feedback before I finalize my PC build. I'm aiming to create a high-end white showcase PC mainly for competitive Fortnite gaming, streaming, and ensuring high frame stability while maintaining a clean aesthetic. Here's what I'm planning to put together:
- **GPU**: MSI RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC White – $1,649
- **CPU Bundle**: Ryzen 7 9850X3D + ASUS X870-P Prime WiFi + 32GB G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 – $699
- **Case**: HYTE Y70 Touch Infinite (Snow White) – $399
- **Cooler**: ASUS ROG Ryuo IV 360 ARGB White – $454
- **Power Supply**: 1000W Gold (white)
- **SSD**: 2TB Gen4
- Extra white fans for airflow
I expect the total to be around $3,900–$4,100.
I have a few questions:
1. Is the 9850X3D a great choice for gaming, or should I consider a different Ryzen option?
2. Is the MSI 5080 worth the price compared to cheaper variants, or am I just paying for looks?
3. Am I missing any potential bottlenecks or balance issues?
4. If I want to stick to a $4,500 budget, would you change anything?
5. Am I overspending anywhere?
I'm upgrading from an Alienware Aurora R13, so I'm really looking forward to a solid boost in performance and stability. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Your build seems solid overall with minimal chances of bottlenecking. If you want to stick to that $4,500 budget, swapping out the cooler and case would likely save you enough to consider upgrading to a 5090!
The 9850X3D is one of the best CPUs for gaming right now. If the price difference isn't huge, you could go for the 9800X3D, but the 9850X3D is a solid choice.
As for the MSI 5080, most of that extra cost is for aesthetics. You're really not getting much of a performance boost compared to the cheaper options, so consider that when deciding.
What do you think about the cooling solution? Is an expensive AIO necessary?
Honestly, you're definitely spending a bit for that flashy white aesthetic. Your cooler seems overpriced for the performance it offers. You could get a great-performing air cooler for a fraction of the price. Plus, a quality 850W PSU would be more than enough and save you some dollars!
If I aim for a 5090, would a 1000W PSU still be necessary?
You could save some cash on your build. That HYTE Y70 case is sweet, but might just be a temporary thrill; you could swap it out for something in the $100-$150 range and save a couple of hundred bucks without losing too much functionality.
Thanks for the tip! Got any case recommendations that work well for airflow?

Good point! I hadn't thought about that. Thanks for the advice!
