Having Issues Accessing Admin Features on HP Printer with PaperCut

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a problem on my HP LaserJet 700 color MFP M775 that's running with PaperCut. We're set up to use swipe cards for user authentication, and my card works fine—I can log in, release print jobs, and scan without issues. But here's the snag: When I try to access certain features on the printer's panel, like 'Supplies', I get a message saying that the item is restricted. Despite being listed as an admin in PaperCut and having full permissions, I'm still getting blocked. I want to know if there's another layer of admin control from HP that's preventing access, even when I'm logged in with my PaperCut admin account. Any advice? Thanks!

This sounds like a permissions issue that's not directly tied to PaperCut. You’ll want to verify the Access Control settings on the printer itself through the EWS interface.

If you still have access issues, try downloading the embedded manual from your PaperCut partner. It provides specific keys to control what admin accounts can unlock on the device. Just a heads up! You often need to log into the printer directly using its local admin account for full access.

You might need to dig into the Advanced Config settings for your model. In some cases, you need to explicitly set admin users under device admin options to pass through those permissions. Check if HP has a similar setting.

Since you're working with HP, you may want to look into JetAdmin for bulk editing those settings.

It looks like the issues you're facing aren't specific to PaperCut. Your PaperCut admin rights may not give you full control over the printer settings. It's important to check the printer's own admin settings because they can be separate from PaperCut.

Exactly! PaperCut is just one app the printer uses, so your permissions there won’t necessarily translate to printer hardware controls.
