Having Trouble Installing Linux Distros: Need Help with Errors

I've recently decided to fully switch from Windows to Linux after using Debian on a virtual machine for a couple of months. I'm trying to install a distro on my main laptop, an HP Omen 16 with an Intel i9 14th gen and an NVIDIA RTX 4070. I've considered NVIDIA-compatible distros like Ubuntu, Pop OS (NVIDIA version), Fedora, and Nobara, but none of them have worked out for me.

When trying to install Ubuntu (and also Mint), I keep getting the "std: invalid argument" error. I attempted to use the 'nomodeset' option, but it didn't resolve the issue. Fedora didn't get past a blinking cursor on the screen, and Pop OS threw an error about system76_acpi: module verification failed due to a missing signature. Lastly, when I attempted to boot Nobara from the USB, I was greeted with a minimal GRUB command line, and I'm not very familiar with GRUB either.

I created the USB using Rufus on Windows 11, and I'd really appreciate some guidance—especially for getting Ubuntu or Pop OS to work!

It sounds like your laptop might have NVIDIA Optimus enabled in the BIOS. You might want to try disabling that temporarily to see if it helps. Switching it to 'discrete' mode may force the laptop to use the dedicated GPU, which could solve the install issues.

Yeah, I noticed that option too! Hopefully, that could potentially fix the booting problem.
