Hey everyone! I'm an almost complete beginner with Linux, and I've been trying to switch from Windows to Linux on my main laptop. I've used Lubuntu before on some older laptops, but I'm really struggling with this one. I've tried installing Ubuntu 25.04, 24.04.02, and the latest Mint Cinnamon, all flashed with Rufus. The furthest I get is the 'Try and Install' option after the GRUB screen. Once I select that, it starts to boot but just turns off after a while. I've also tried using 'nomodeset' and the safe graphics mode, but I still end up with the same result. My laptop is a generic Walmart Evoo, and it does have some battery issues—it won't run on battery alone. Secure boot and Fast boot are both disabled. Any tips would be appreciated!

Have you been using the same USB install disk? If so, you might want to try a different one. Sometimes the flash drive itself can cause issues during installation.
Check out the migration page on the wiki for some great tips. Also, make sure to verify the checksum of your ISOs after downloading them. That can help ensure you're using a clean copy. Good luck!
I’ll give that a shot! I have an 8GB USB stick I can use instead of this 64GB one.
