I recently swapped out my old 3080 for a new ASUS 5070Ti. After plugging everything back in, I heard a loud pop on the first boot. Thankfully, there was no smoke or burning smell, and the computer restarted and booted up normally afterward. I've updated the GPU drivers and used it for a couple of hours since, and everything seems fine. I've checked the GPU and motherboard for any visible damage, but nothing seemed off. I haven't checked the PSU yet, which is an EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 T2 that's about three years old. Should I be concerned about that popping noise, or do you think I might be in the clear?

Make sure to power down your PC and take a close look at both the motherboard and the 5070Ti for any damaged or bulging capacitors. You might want to give it a sniff test too, just in case something burned. Even though it's booting up fine now, a popping sound can be a red flag. Also, double-check that all cable connections are secure. It's possible you got lucky, but it's better to be safe!
Can you describe that pop a bit more? Was it similar to a firecracker or something? Just wondering if you’ve experienced anything like this before.

It sounded like a loud single firecracker, similar to what I heard with my old GTX 1080, but that one had smoke and a burnt smell from a bad capacitor. This time, no smoke or smell, which is a good sign!
