Hey everyone! I'm a newbie to PC building and currently using an AM4 system with a Ryzen 5 5600. I'm looking to upgrade to an AM5 setup soon. I have an RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB VRAM, and I'm thinking about getting the 9800X3D CPU. Some of my friends think that's overkill, but I want to ensure my system is future-proof since I plan to upgrade my GPU in 2-3 years. Is it a good idea to invest in a high-end CPU now and just upgrade the GPU later? For cooling, I'm currently using the Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 Plus V2 and I'm not planning to overclock, maybe just some light Precision Boost Overdrive. Also, are there any decent budget AM5 motherboards you could suggest? Thanks!

Honestly, it seems a bit excessive to go for the 9800X3D right now. If you’re not facing any CPU limitations with your current setup for your games, you might want to consider just upgrading your CPU when you eventually swap out the GPU. But hey, if you've got the budget and want the latest tech for future-proofing, then go for it! Just keep in mind the actual performance needs for your gaming.

Yeah, I was looking at getting the 7800X3D as a cheaper option since the price jump to the 9800X3D isn't huge. Might be worth considering!
