Help Choosing a Replacement Motherboard and Case

My motherboard seems to be broken, possibly fried, and I'm looking to replace it. I'm hoping to find a motherboard with an AM4 socket that's around $1000. I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, a 2060 Super graphics card, and have 16GB of RAM (2x8GB Samsung DDR4). I'm a bit uncertain if my CPU is actually functioning, and if it's not, I might need to consider a different socket altogether. Also, I need to find a budget-friendly case since my current one has poor airflow. Any suggestions?

I found a great option! Check out the ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac for about $80. For a case, the Phanteks XT PRO is on sale for around $50. That’s a total of under $130, which is a steal!

Thanks for the recommendation! That sounds like an awesome deal.

Good find! I would also recommend looking into TUF or MSI for more options.

Are you really looking to spend $1000 on a motherboard? That seems quite high for an AM4 board. Just a heads up, if you’re considering that much, you might want to do more research first and rethink your budget. Not worth overspending!

Yeah, I think they might have accidentally added an extra zero. $1k for an AM4 board is just too steep!

Totally! You can get a solid board for much less without breaking the bank.

My suggestion would be to buy an inexpensive AM4 motherboard first, ideally from a store that has a good return policy. You can test it by installing your CPU and RAM and see if you can access the BIOS. If the system works, you might not need anything else!

If you're looking for something with a better chipset, consider the Msi x570 Tomahawk. It’s more expensive but offers solid performance for your build.

Honestly, a decent B450 motherboard for around $60-$70 should do just fine for your setup, plus it's more budget-friendly compared to the B550s.
