Help! Getting BSODs During Windows Installation on New Build

Hey everyone, I just put together a new PC build using some old parts but mostly new components. Here are my specs: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, XFX RX 9060 XT GPU, 32GB Crucial Pro OC DDR5 RAM, Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX motherboard, and a mix of SSDs. When I try to install Windows from a bootable USB, I see the loading icon for a split second before the screen goes blue with a random BSOD error each time. I can get into BIOS and boot other USB programs without any issues, but installing Windows just won't work. I've tried different BIOS versions, multiple USB creation methods, and even went through various BIOS settings without luck. Honestly, I'm feeling lost and would appreciate any insights on how to solve this issue. Thanks!

Let’s tackle this step by step. First, if you haven't already, do a CMOS reset after updating your BIOS. I had a similar experience when installing Windows—it turned out to be a RAM issue. Try installing with only one stick of RAM at a time, and check different slots as well. Also, don’t overtighten your CPU cooler, as that could mess with the RAM pins. If you suspect NVMe issues, you might want to try installing Windows using an older SATA SSD instead, or even consider creating a bootable USB with an older version of Windows to see if that bypasses any compatibility problems. Just some ideas to try!

Have you tried running MemTest86? Just to confirm it's not a memory issue?

Yes, I did run MemTest86 for about an hour with no errors.

It sounds like your motherboard could be the suspect here. I’d recommend trying a different motherboard if you have one lying around. Unexplained crashes like that are often linked to mobo issues.

Your specific BIOS version (F36d) is known to give people trouble with BSODs, especially with the 7800X3D. I suggest downgrading to F35a or F35, clearing the CMOS, and using default settings. Just make sure not to let Q-Flash auto-update again. You might also want to test the installer right after resetting, don’t change any settings just yet. Oh, and keep an eye on your PSU too; at five years old, it might not handle the power demands properly anymore, especially if it's delivering inconsistent power during high loads.

I just flashed F35, but now I'm getting no output on my monitor and the DRAM light is on. I've tried reflashing and resetting CMOS multiple times, but still nothing.

Ugh, that was my experience too with this board. It's frustrating! You might need to double-check all your connections and try reseating the RAM again.
