I was using my phone while it was plugged in, and it turned off because it wasn't charging properly. When I powered it back on and tried to get back into Instagram, I found out I was logged out. No big deal, right? But when I tried to log back in using my username and password, it asked for verification via an email that I no longer have access to. Now I'm really stressed because I'm trying to get the verification codes sent to my phone number, but it just logs me into an old account I had instead of my personal one. I definitely have my username and password, but since it's linked to an old email, I can't verify my identity. If anyone has advice on what to do, I'd really appreciate it!

I know you're not supposed to post about account recovery, but it seems you're in quite a bind. If you can provide any additional details about your situation, maybe someone here can lend a hand!
Have you tried recovering your old Gmail account first? That way, you could use it to log back into your Instagram and change your recovery options. It's often the easiest route if you can get your email back.
I get that it’s frustrating! Just remember, trying random passwords might not work out if you don't remember it well. You might want to check if there are any other recovery options you can use through Google.
