Help! I cloned my SSD, but now my PC won’t boot

I recently cloned my SSD, but now I'm having major problems. My MSI BIOS can't detect the new SSD in the boot priority. I tried using the recovery tool to assign a letter to the 100MB partition on the new SSD and make a boot option, but it just showed my old SSD as a grayed-out disabled icon. Neither SSD seems to be bootable. After several attempts at this process, I tried to switch back to booting from the old SSD, but the icon didn't change. I ended up forcing a shutdown after the BIOS froze during saves. Now, even after restarting and resetting the settings to default, my PC won't boot from either SSD or even my recovery USB, which it claims is corrupted. At one point, I considered removing the CMOS battery, but with all the issues I've had, I'm hesitant to try that. Any advice?

Try removing the new drive and just use your original SSD. If it works, then your old SSD might be fine. For cloning, consider using software like Clonezilla to get the data over to the new drive properly. Just make sure the old SSD is still functional first!

The BIOS won't recognize my old SSD anymore either when I connect it. I think there might be some corruption issues.

It sounds like you might need to reset your BIOS settings to default. Once you get into the BIOS, make sure to look for an option to reset to defaults and save those changes. If you can't access the BIOS, you may need to remove the CMOS battery for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Depending on your motherboard, you might also have reset jumpers or a button you can use. It could help clear up the issues you're facing!

I can get into the BIOS, but it doesn't detect my old SSD at all, even though the new one is recognized but not as a boot option.
