I recently downloaded PPSSPP from the app store and started looking for some compressed games to play. Admittedly, most of the sites I found were kind of sketchy, and I even had to turn off Google Play Protect to get the downloads going. The games took forever to download, but I thought it was worth it. After playing them, I decided to delete everything to clean up my device. However, when I checked my files app, I was shocked to find lots of strange leftover files after deleting the modded games. There are random pixelated video game characters, bizarre graphic skulls, an odd image of a Russian guy on a laptop, some GIFs, and even pictures of George W. Bush! Plus, loads of files named README.TXT and something with a .cir extension, among others. I'm genuinely scared because these files are taking up about 30GB and I can't even open them or understand what they are. What should I do to get rid of this mess?

Just to add to what the other user said, it seems like those files could be remnants from the games or possibly hidden malware. If cleaning up with software doesn't work, try doing a factory reset on your phone and a clean install on your PC. Make sure to back up any important data first! It's better to be safe than sorry, especially with odd files like those popping up!
First off, take a deep breath! It sounds like you might have picked up some junk files while downloading those games. If you're on a phone, try using an app like CCleaner or another good file manager to help you identify and delete these weird files. On a PC, do a full virus scan with trusted antivirus software – that should help clear any malicious files. And definitely avoid using dodgy sites in the future for downloads!
