Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a jam here. I've lost access to my Discord account, and I'm kinda stuck. I still have my email and password, which is great, but the issue is that I can't use the backup codes that I received when I set up two-factor authentication (2FA). I thought I'd be able to use my passkey or other recovery options, but unfortunately, those aren't working for me either. I reached out to Discord support, but they just told me that if I don't have the backup codes, there's nothing they can do. I even asked if they could turn 2FA off for me since I can prove I'm the account owner, but they declined for "security reasons." I really want my account back! Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried posting this on their subreddit, but my post got deleted.

I'm curious about what you meant by "I can't put the backup code." When you set up 2FA, either through an app or your email, you should have received a backup code. If you’ve lost the access to whatever method you originally set up, then unfortunately, you’re typically locked out of your account completely. That's how 2FA is designed, to prevent unauthorized access.
Honestly, if you don't have access to the backup codes, you're probably out of luck. That's pretty much the bottom line with 2FA security.
But what if you have all the other account info? That seems really harsh.
But most apps like Instagram do send a backup code to your email for cases where you're locked out. I didn't save my backup codes because I thought I'd use a passkey, but now those aren't working either!
