Help! I’m Stuck on Easy Anti Cheat Error 30005

I've been trying to launch my new game, Dead by Daylight, on Steam for over an hour, but it just won't start. The only way I could get it to open was by running it as an administrator. Even then, it failed immediately with the message "error 30005: createservice failed with 32." According to the support page, this error means the Easy Anti Cheat service can't access crucial resources, likely because another process is holding onto them. They suggest checking my antivirus to ensure it's not blocking the service, and if everything seems fine, a system reboot might help. I've already restarted my computer, but that didn't work. I'm using Norton 360 as my antivirus—any tips on how to safely get past this issue? I'd appreciate a simple explanation, like I'm a total beginner! Thanks for your help!

Just throwing in some extra info—since you’re on a Windows 11 desktop with a good setup, you should definitely try switching to Defender. It’s lightweight and does the job! If you’re still worried about malware after switching, just keep your system updated and avoid shady downloads. It’ll help keep your new computer safe!

Sounds like Norton might be the culprit here. Many users have had issues with it interfering with games, especially with Easy Anti Cheat. It could be blocking the necessary services. You might want to consider switching to Windows Defender; it’s built-in, free, and generally pretty solid. Plus, it doesn't hog resources like some other antivirus programs. Just make sure to check the settings in Norton to see if you can allow Easy Anti Cheat specifically, but if not, you might need to uninstall. It's a bit of a hassle but definitely worth it to enjoy your game without issues.

I agree with TechSavvyTed! Norton has a reputation for causing problems with games. If you're nervous about malware, remember that the default antivirus will protect you well enough. If you can manage to uninstall Norton, do it! You'll likely have a smoother experience with Dead by Daylight and other games afterwards. Plus, if your PC is new, you probably don't have to worry about viruses yet. You can always reinstall Norton later if you really want it.
