Help! I’ve Got a Line of Dead Pixels on My Monitor—What Can I Do?

Hey everyone! This morning, I noticed a whole line of dead pixels that just appeared out of nowhere near the bottom of my monitor. It seems like the line inverts color; yellow appears under orange, and red shows up under blue. I'm not sure what to do about this. Any advice?

That sounds frustrating! A straight line of dead pixels usually points to a panel defect rather than a minor glitch. Here are a few steps you can try:

1. Restart your device and connect to another display if possible, just to eliminate the graphics card as the issue.
2. If you're using a laptop, try displaying a screenshot on an external monitor—if the line doesn’t show up there, it’s likely a hardware issue.
3. Don’t press or massage the area, as it won't fix the pixels and could make the problem worse.
4. If your monitor is still under warranty, reach out to the manufacturer's support team; an entire line usually qualifies for a replacement.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do software-wise to fix a whole line of dead pixels—it’s typically a hardware problem.

I just checked and it looks like there are multiple lines of dead pixels now, yikes. Is there another way to verify if it’s not my GPU? I don’t have a second monitor to test with.

Sounds like you’ve ruled out the GPU if the lines aren’t in your screenshots, so that’s a good sign. It’s likely a hardware issue with your monitor.
