I'm really in a tough spot here and hoping someone can help. I had 2-factor authentication set up on my Gmail, but when I got a new phone, I wiped my old one before logging into my email on the new device. Now I'm completely locked out, since the system keeps sending a verification code to my email, which I can't access. I've checked all the help articles from Google, but they're just asking me to log in from another device, and I don't have that option. Am I totally out of luck, or is there a workaround?

When you set up 2FA, you should have received some backup codes to use in situations like this. Maybe you jotted them down somewhere? That’s usually the best way to regain access if you can't receive the codes through your usual methods.
How did you usually receive your verification codes? Was it through an app, SMS, or email? Also, check if you have a recovery email linked to your account; you could get the code sent there. If you’re logged into any Google service like Google Photos or Play Store, you might luck out and stay logged in there.
You're in a pretty tough situation. Unfortunately, it sounds like you're really locked out since you wiped your old device before getting into Gmail on the new one. It’s a good reminder to always have a backup email or a second authentication option available before making a switch.
Yeah, I know—I really messed up this time.
You might want to reach out to Google Support directly. They may have options to help you recover your account, especially if it's linked to any recovery info like a phone number or an alternate email address.
I think I do have them stored in an encrypted folder online, but I need to double-check if I wrote them down.
