Help Me Choose the Right CPU for My PC Upgrade

Hey everyone! I recently found myself needing to upgrade my PC, and I've switched from an AM4 to an LGA1700 platform. This route ended up being more budget-friendly compared to getting a new AM4 motherboard and CPU. I'm planning to reuse my current DDR4 RAM since it's still good. My main concern is about Intel's reliability, especially with their recent Raptor Lake CPUs. Should I play it safe and go with a 12th gen i5 or i7, or are the issues resolved now that the newer 13th or 14th gen CPUs are out and have the necessary BIOS updates? Just to give some background, I built my PC back in late 2019 using a Ryzen 3700x and a 2070 Super, which has served me well. I recently upgraded to a 9070XT with the plan to switch to AM5 eventually, but after seeing RAM prices spike, I'm a bit stuck. Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks a lot!

Most of the major issues have been patched up, so I think you’ll be fine going with Intel now. Just be cautious with used CPUs from that era; they could have hidden problems from overheating.

If you can snag a good deal on the i5-14600K or KF, I think that's a solid choice. With an updated BIOS, you shouldn't worry too much about the Raptor Lake issues. It's looking pretty stable now!

Thanks for the tip! I also have a couple of follow-up questions: Since LGA1700 works with both DDR4 and DDR5, is it better to invest in a higher-tier i7 or i9 now and then switch to DDR5 later when prices drop, or should I stick with an i5 and plan to move back to AM5 eventually?

Definitely check out the i5-13600K, or even consider the 12th gen i9 or 13th gen i7; they have some fantastic options!
