Help me identify and replace this faulty RAM!

This weekend, my laptop started having major issues—first, it pixelated and then the screen went completely black. I noticed the CAPS LOCK key was flashing in a pattern. After some research, I found that it could be a RAM failure. Upon opening up my laptop, I discovered that one of the RAM sticks is working, but the other one is definitely bad. The RAM stick that's faulty has the following details written on it: Samsung 4GB 1Rx16 PC4-3200AA-SCO-11. I tried to look it up on Amazon, but I couldn't find an exact match. I noticed that some similar options mention terms like "DDR4" and "260-pin," and honestly, I don't understand what those mean. I really want to avoid buying the wrong RAM. Can someone please guide me on what I should be looking for? I'd be super thankful for any help!

Hey there! A few things to consider here. First, how did you figure out that one RAM stick was bad? If you boot your laptop with just the good one, does it still have issues? If it runs fine, then the bad stick is likely the problem. However, if the problems persist even with just the good RAM, it could indicate a different issue. My recommendation is to replace both sticks at the same time rather than just one, for better performance. Also, if you share the model of your laptop, I might be able to suggest some compatible RAM options that could work better for you.

Glad to help! Based on what you mentioned, I think you're on the right track. Since you've identified a faulty stick, definitely don't just replace that one. Upgrading both sticks could make your laptop run smoother. Your HP model is important here—HP15 gw0023od—you'll want to make sure whatever you buy is compatible with that model. Look for RAM that matches the specs of what you've got; DDR4 and 260-pin are pretty standard for many laptops. It's all about ensuring compatibility for optimal performance.
