I have an Asus TUF GAMING laptop that started having issues a few months ago. It began blowing the fans hard at night, and I assumed it was doing some updates. After that, I would sometimes end up with a black screen and just a cursor after logging in, but resetting the system usually helped. Now, though, nothing seems to work. I've tried all sorts of solutions I found online, but the problem persists. Everything seems fine until I log in, then it goes black. I can access the task manager, but nothing I try has fixed it. Here's what I've done so far:
- Uninstalled Explorer Patcher (which I didn't even know I had)
- Booted in safe mode, but it still black screens
- Used the sfc command, which detected and repaired corrupted files, but it hasn't fixed the issue
I'm getting really desperate for solutions. My specs are a GeForce RTX 2050 and an AMD Ryzen 5 7000 series. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Have you tried pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc when you see the black screen? This should bring up the Task Manager. From there, go to 'File' and select 'Run new task', then type 'explorer.exe' and hit Enter. See if that helps get the desktop back up!

I tried that, but the explorer window pops up for just a couple of seconds and then disappears. The screen stays the same, and I can only see the task manager.
