Help! My Computer is Crashing and Using Too Much Memory

I've got a computer built in 2018 with these specs: Intel Core i5-8400 CPU, Cryorig H7 cooler, Asrock Z370M Pro4 ATX motherboard, Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2666 RAM, Seagate FireCuda 1TB HDD, Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU, and a Seasonic S1211 520W power supply. The problem I'm facing is that even when I'm just idling or watching YouTube, my disk usage is always at 100% and my memory sits around 60%. When I play games like WoW or WC3, the screen often goes black and I hear a loud humming noise. Sometimes my mouse stops responding after I step away, even when I unplug and replug it. I've been regularly cleaning, replacing the thermal paste, and updating software, but I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue.

It seems like you’re unnecessarily cleaning and replacing thermal paste frequently. That's usually overkill! You might want to check if your HDD is failing—sounds like it's struggling to keep up. Also, with only 8GB of RAM, you might not have enough for Windows to run smoothly alongside other tasks.

You might also want to add another 8GB of RAM. That will definitely help improve performance, especially with what you’re running. Your current setup is getting a bit outdated.

An SSD would make a huge difference for your system! It’ll speed things up significantly. Plus, consider checking your startup items in Task Manager and disable any unnecessary ones that might be hogging resources on boot.

Honestly, your best bet is some new hardware. Your HDD seems to be on its last legs, and with limited RAM, your PC isn't at its best. Upgrading to an SSD and adding more RAM would solve a lot of these issues, but I know prices are high right now. Just try not to mess with the thermal paste too much—it's meant to last!

Yeah, those prices are wild right now. Just be careful if you do decide to upgrade!
