Hey everyone! I'm really stuck trying to solve an issue with my newly built Ghost S1 computer—it has a 5080 FE GPU and a 9800x3d CPU. The problem is that it keeps crashing whenever the system is under load. Here's what I've already done to troubleshoot:
- Undervolted both the CPU and GPU.
- Swapped out the RAM after memtest86 showed errors.
- Changed my PCIe riser cable from gen4 to gen5.
- Reinstalled Windows OS and updated drivers.
- Scanned for corrupted files and repaired them after each crash.
I even took it to a local repair shop, and they tested the individual parts, saying everything checks out fine. They suspect it might be an issue with the case itself.
I know the Ghost S1 is known for limited cooling, but my temps reach around 80-85°C under load, spiking to 95/96°C when downloading shaders, which makes me pretty nervous.
Before I switch cases—which is my next plan—does anyone have any ideas on what I can try to make this setup work?
Here are the links to my parts if that helps:

Also, I've received different error messages intermittently, including:
Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xfffffff
DirectX function "m_submitFencePlat->GetCompletedValue()" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

Could you share all your specs? Knowing the details might help narrow down the issue!
It sounds like your case might not be the main issue here. 96°C under load shouldn’t cause thermal shutdown, as CPUs typically throttle to prevent that. I suggest monitoring your system closely using HWinfo to keep track of max temps and see if there’s any thermal throttling happening. It could also be related to the undervolt settings being slightly unstable, or maybe an issue with the riser cable or power supply. Consider updating your motherboard BIOS too, just to be safe. If none of that works, you might need to switch to a larger case that supports a higher wattage PSU and better cooling options.
