I'm confused about the pricing of SSDs. I found one with a heatsink listed at $169, while the one without it is priced at $185. Shouldn't the heatsink make the SSD more expensive? Is there something I'm not understanding?

Yeah, pricing can be super weird on Amazon. Sometimes they lower prices based on how well different items are selling. They might have more SSDs with heatsinks that aren’t moving, which could lead to this discount.
You're not missing anything at all. The heatsinks are pretty cheap to make, so the pricing really depends on what people are buying more. If more folks lean toward the no-heatsink option, that one’s likely to cost less over time.
Exactly! It often comes down to supply and demand. Not many people are looking for SSDs with heatsinks these days, so if they have a lot in stock, they may lower the price to get rid of them.
Most motherboards already come with their own SSD heatsinks. So, the bare SSDs tend to sell better since ain’t nobody wanting to deal with a heatsink that’s tricky to remove. Supply and demand plays a huge role in this.
Also, I got a 3rd party heatsink for just $5! The market can fluctuate, which might explain why you’re seeing cheaper deals sometimes.

That makes total sense! It seems like the market can be unpredictable too.
