Hey everyone!
I'm in a tough situation. My father's Google account was hacked, and it got worse when his phone was compromised. The hacker even added a PIN, making it impossible for us to change the Google password from that device. We've shut the phone down and wiped its data, but when we contacted Google for recovery, they said we should expect an email in 48 hours. The problem is, the hacker still has access to that email account, so we're worried they'll exploit the recovery link they receive. What steps can we take to regain control of the account safely?

You should consider reaching out to Google Support directly for help beyond just the normal recovery options. They might have additional methods to verify identity. It's also wise to check any other accounts linked to that Google account; you might need to secure those too since the hacker has a foothold now. And remember, once you regain access, update all security questions and enable 2FA if you haven't already.
First off, don’t panic! You can definitely start by trying to recover the account from another device, like a computer. Just go to the Google Account Recovery page. Make sure to tap 'Forgot Password?' and use any recovery information you can remember. If you can access a backup email or recovery phone that hasn’t been changed, Google should send a code there instead of to the hacked one. Also, keep in mind that if you also have 2-Step Verification set up, that could make things easier for recovery. Good luck!
