Help! My GPU Isn’t Fitting Properly in My New PC Build

I just finished building my first PC, and I'm stuck on the last step: installing the GPU. When I tried to fit the GPU into the slot, I noticed that the screw holes on the GPU don't line up with the ones in my case. The port side of the GPU is touching the case, but the top side is too far away from the case holes. I'm really confused and need some guidance on how to fix this!

It sounds like your GPU might need a bit of a jiggle to get it into the right position. The bottom plate where the screws go often needs to slide in just right between the case and the motherboard. You actually want to make sure the card is level as you put it in, or else the ports can end up misaligned. A photo could really help too! Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize that the I/O bracket on the GPU should go behind the motherboard. But I’m still having issues because the PCIe slot ends up being to the left of the GPU. I'm a bit stressed about it—any other suggestions?

What you're describing usually happens when the GPU's back plate is getting caught on something in the case or on the motherboard. Try taking the GPU out and placing it back in as straight as you can—this way, the back end should slide properly into the gap between the motherboard and case. It can be tricky, just make sure to be patient!

I see! I’ll give it another shot. Just to mention, my case is a Lian Li O11 Vision Compact, and the motherboard is an Asus ROG Strix X870F. Maybe that’s causing an alignment issue?
