Help! My HP Victus Laptop Keeps Restarting Randomly with a Black Screen

I'm having a frustrating issue with my HP Victus 16 laptop where it keeps cutting to a black screen and rebooting back to the login screen. This problem seems to only occur on the internal display, as I noticed that when I had an external monitor connected, the game I was playing continued without interruption while the laptop screen went black. I've done a range of tests: stress tests for the GPU, CPU, and RAM all passed without any problems, and the issue occurs on both battery and AC power. I've also tried disconnecting the battery completely and running it on AC power alone, but the problem still persists, even when the laptop is at normal temperatures. I'm looking for any insights or solutions to fix this.

One thing you could try is removing the battery and booting your laptop only with the power cable connected. I’ve seen people have some luck doing this with HP laptops. Just a thought!

I actually tried that too, but unfortunately, the same issue happened after.

If you're stuck and there's no clear log for troubleshooting, try running a tool like 'Specify' that gathers system info and logs. It’s pretty simple and can give us insights into your OS and hardware to help solve the issue. Just download it, run it, and share the results, it'll automatically create a sharable link for you to post here.

Sounds like a good plan! I'll download and run it, and share the link once I have the results.

Since you're experiencing random reboots but no BSOD, it might help to gather some dump files from your laptop for more analysis. If you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode, check for minidump files in C:WindowsMinidump. Uploading those could give us some insight into what's going wrong. There are ways to set up your laptop to create these logs, which you can look into if you haven't already!

It sounds like a frustrating situation! Have you tried testing your RAM? Sometimes faulty RAM can cause intermittent issues like these. Even if your stress tests ran fine, it might be worth checking with a RAM diagnostic tool just to be sure.

I did run a stress test on the RAM and it seemed to be fine, but I might try a more thorough diagnostic tool just to confirm.
