Help! My Internet Keeps Dropping and I Can’t Contact the ISP

I'm having a frustrating issue with my internet. Since the owner of the property pays for it and is unreachable for the entire year, I can't contact the ISP. The internet drops connection whenever I download something or stream video, leading to the globe icon appearing on my PC, indicating no connection. Unplugging the LAN cable and plugging it back in temporarily resolves the issue, but it's really annoying. If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing this or how I can fix it, I would really appreciate the help! I can share a picture of the icon if needed.

Here are a few quick checks you can try that might help. First, if you have a spare Ethernet cable lying around, switch it out to see if the problem persists. Sometimes cables can go bad.

Also, try different ports on your router or computer if available. It could just be a simple port issue.

Next, ensure your network adapter drivers are up to date—check this in Device Manager. Resetting your network settings could also help; just make sure you know your Wi-Fi password since you'll need to reconnect after that.

Lastly, in Device Manager, go to the adapter properties and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Many users find this setting interferes with their connection. If none of that works, it might be a router hardware issue.

I get that it's tough to manage tech issues when you can't talk to the owner. If they've really gone completely unreachable, that's a big concern. They might be able to authorize you to talk to the ISP if you can get in touch, which would help a lot in case of major issues.

Just keep in mind that if you're stuck, it could complicate emergencies if you can't reach anyone for those services you rely on, like water or electricity.
