I recently got a new internet connection and it's super fast! However, I'm having serious trouble with certain games disconnecting after just a few seconds. I've narrowed it down to a possible NAT issue, but I can't change my NAT type and I'm not sure how to resolve this to make the games playable. Some games like Chivalry 2 and League of Legends work perfectly fine, but I'm running into problems with Garry's Mod and No More Room in Hell. Does anyone have tips or resources that could help? I'd prefer solutions other than switching to a new internet provider or using paid software.

It sounds like your ISP-provided router might not be up to the task. A quick fix could be to buy your own router. ISP routers can be pretty basic and swapping it out for a better one could solve your problem. Give that a shot and see if it makes a difference!
Try running some tests when the game is active to check latency. You can use tools like Nperf for a latency value check and Wireshark with a specific filter to monitor traffic during your gameplay. This might reveal any issues with the connection while you're gaming!
If I'm having trouble with port forwarding, where can I learn more about that?
What do you mean by "your own router"? Could you explain that a bit more?
