Help! My iPhone 12 Pro is Stuck in a Loop After Updating to iOS 26

I updated my iPhone 12 Pro to iOS 26 today using my MacBook, and now it keeps asking for my passcode and gets stuck on the 'attempting data recovery' screen. The phone keeps restarting and asking for the passcode again, trapping me in a loop. I've tried hard resets and updating again through my Mac, but nothing works. I'm really worried because I haven't backed up my data in two years. Is there any way to fix this without losing everything? Also, I noticed that my phone was restarting randomly before the update too, so I'm starting to wonder if this is a hardware issue in addition to the software problems. Any advice would be appreciated!

I’ve also had issues after an update that messed with my apps as well. Now I usually hold off on updating right away and wait for a few bug fixes first. It might not help this time, but it’s worth considering for future updates!

I totally understand not wanting to lose your data. Unfortunately, if the phone is truly bricked and not responding, you might be out of luck. Just a heads up, that attempting recovery screen can take a while to resolve. Maybe let it charge overnight and see if it makes any difference. But in the future, seriously consider making a habit of backing up your data regularly!

Definitely! It’s essential to keep your data protected, especially when updates roll out.

Honestly, it sounds like a tough situation. iOS updates can sometimes reveal underlying issues, but it’s a bit wild to go two years without a backup! If you can't boot past the recovery stage, erasing the device might be your only option. Just keep in mind, data recovery could be tricky without a backup, so make sure to back up in the future before major updates.

Exactly! A backup can save you from so much trouble like this. It’s a must every time you update!

If your phone was glitching before the update, it could indicate a deeper problem. Letting it rest in recovery mode could help. Just don’t keep restarting it, as that might cause further issues. Watching for a fix or consulting with Apple Support might be your best bet here.
