So, my iPhone got wet and now it seems like it only functions when connected to Wi-Fi. There's a crack on the phone, and I think water got in somehow. I don't have Apple Care to cover it. Am I totally doomed, or is there something I can do to fix this?

It sounds like there might be some internal damage from the water exposure. If the device is primarily working over Wi-Fi, it could be affecting the cellular components. I recommend trying to let it dry out for a while. Just be careful, and if it doesn't improve, you might want to get it checked out at a repair shop.
What model is it? Knowing the model helps in figuring out what repairs might be possible.
Don't lose hope just yet! Your phone might not be completely dead. Have you tried turning it off and letting it dry out for a couple of days? Sometimes that can help with minor water damage.
You should definitely consider bringing it to a repair shop. They can help assess the damage. If it's not too severe, they might be able to fix it. Check out places like iCity Repair; they usually handle water damage repairs.
