I've had my iPhone 13 for about six years and have amassed a huge collection of around 7,000 photos. I recently got a hard drive to transfer my pictures to free up space on my phone. I'm connecting my phone to my laptop, but during the transfer, only about 4,000 pictures showed up. I went ahead and transferred those and deleted them from my phone. Now, I can't see any of the remaining 3,000 photos on my laptop to transfer to the hard drive. I'm not sure why this is happening. Is there any way to get the missing photos to show up? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd really appreciate any help!

You're likely facing an issue with how iPhones handle photo transfers. Sometimes, older photos don’t show up because they aren't downloaded to your device; they might just be in the cloud. Try enabling 'Download and Keep Originals' in your iCloud settings. That should make all the photos available for transfer.
It sounds like your remaining photos might be stored in iCloud. Depending on your settings, your iPhone may only show a portion of the photos when connected via USB. You might want to check your iCloud settings to see if the older photos are stored there. If they are, you can download them from iCloud directly to your laptop! It's often easier than trying to transfer everything over USB, especially with a large library.
I totally get your frustration! You've probably outgrown your local storage space for photos. To get the older ones back, check your iCloud. If they got stuck because your storage was full, you might need to adjust your settings or free up some space in the cloud first.
