Help! My Lenovo Yoga Won’t Boot After a Black Screen

I'm having a major issue with my wife's Lenovo Yoga (running Windows 11). After it shut down because of a dead battery, it won't start up properly. We keep getting a black screen with an error saying, "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC." I've tried several recovery options like Startup Repair, but nothing has worked. I even attempted some command-line fixes including chkdsk and sfc/scannow, with limited success. I tried running a DISM cleanup but couldn't get that to work either.

I thought rebuilding the UEFI boot might help, so I assigned a letter to the EFI partition and used the bcdboot command. However, now I'm encountering a blue screen early in the boot process with an error pointing to an Avast driver (aswVmm.sys), and the error code is 0xc000007b.

Currently, I can't access the Windows Recovery options at all—they just loop back to the same error screen. I even prepared a bootable USB, but it's not working, and when I check the BIOS, the UEFI Boot Order is completely empty. I'm considering taking it to Lenovo support, but I'd love any tips on how to fix this issue or an explanation about what might have gone wrong. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like a tough situation! First off, definitely try creating another bootable USB, if you haven't already. Make sure to check your BIOS settings to set the USB drive to boot first. Sometimes, newer motherboards can be finicky about boot order, so it’s worth double-checking.

I appreciate the suggestion! I've already created a bootable USB, but it doesn't seem to work. In BIOS, the boot order looks empty, like it's not recognizing any device at all. Any other ideas?
