Help! My M.2 Drive Isn’t Appearing in BIOS

Hey everyone, I just finished building a new PC for my wife, and I'm running into an odd issue. I pulled an M.2 WD Blue SATA NVMe drive from her old setup to use in this new build, but it's not showing up in the BIOS at all. I've tried different M.2 slots on the motherboard without any success. I've gone through the manual and various resources to check compatibility, but I can't find anything definitive. Here are my specs: Ryzen 7 9700x, MSI B850M-P WiFi, RTX 5070Ti, 64GB G.Skill DDR5, and an MSI MAG A850GL. If you need any more details, just let me know. I'm really puzzled here and wondering if the motherboard simply doesn't support M.2 SATA SSDs, but I could be mistaken. Thanks for the help!

It sounds like it could be a compatibility issue. Often, motherboards are designed to support either NVMe or SATA, but not both in all scenarios. You might want to try a different SSD type just to rule that out.

Have you checked the manual for any specific details? Sometimes it can be tricky with M.2 drives, especially when they mention "M.2 SSD" without clarifying if it covers SATA too.

I did check the manual, but it doesn’t clearly state whether M.2 SATA is compatible. It just gives a general statement about M.2 SSDs.

Sometimes a BIOS update can fix detection issues. Check if there’s a new version available for your motherboard that might add support for M.2 SATA drives.
